MASSAGE: Bellabaci Cupping

Cupping is an ancient method of causing local congestion.  A partial vacuum is created in cups placed on the skin either by means of heat or suction. This draws up the underlying tissues.  It has been found to affect the body up to four inches into the tissue, and is the one of the best ways for a deep tissue massage.

Bellabaci is a modified and simplified version of the ancient cupping therapy.  It utilizes the Bellabaci silicone, hand squeezed vacuum cups, which create a suction on the body surface.  By creating suction and negative pressure, the massage will drain excess fluids and toxins, loosen adhesions, lift the connective tissue and bring blood flow to stagnant muscles and skin.

It is a slow and relaxing massage in which the cups help to the body to detoxify itself.  One often experiences a deep warmth and tingling sensation long after the treatment has ended.  The effects on the nervous system are very sedating and often one will descend into a deep state of relaxation.  The skin in the area that was worked on can turn red due to stimulation.  In severe cases where the Bellabaci cupping work was done, a very deep and concentrated cup kiss may be formed.  It is a bit of discolouration on the skin.  It indicates an intense stagnation of body fluids and toxins in that area.  This is not a bruise and will dissipate anywhere between a few hours and a few days.

Some of the many conditions that it can help with

  • Tissue and joint inflammation
  • Sprains, strains and spasms
  • Tired, sore and overworked muscles
  • Arthritis
  • Back and joint pain
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Sluggish colon
  • IBS
  • Stagnant lymph and oedema
  • Poor circulation
  • Cellulite

Bellabaci Massage Cups when ‘parked’ will at times leave a circular ‘cup kiss’ much like a ‘love bite’ or ‘hickey’ which is not painful, just unsightly to some.  The bruised circular marks are indicative of the Bellabaci Massage cup’s healing power.  These ‘cup kisses’ occur

Wherever there is dead, static blood, lymph, cellular debris or toxins present in the body.  Cup Kisses indicate that stagnation has been moved from the deeper tissue layer to the skin surface, allowing fresh oxygenated blood to nourish the underlying area

The colour and pattern of the cup kiss depends on  the level of stagnation in the area, and can range from a bright red to dark purple, usually lasting 3-7 days.  If there is no stagnation present there will be a light reddening or glow of the skin surface which disappears in a few minutes to a couple of hours. Areas where there is trauma or injury may require multiple treatments to remove all stagnation.

You will find in follow up treatments that the cup kiss will not be a severe as the pathogens and toxins are systemically removed from the body.

MASSAGE: Lomi Lomi

Hawaiian Massage is the traditional healing massage of ancient Hawaii. In this unique and visually beautiful style of massage the Practitioner uses hands, forearms and body weight to create long, flowing, deeply connected, continuous strokes that glide tenderly over and under the body from head to toe and side to side.

‘The Wisdom of Paradise in motion’, Hawaiian Massage awakens the whole Being—body, mind, heart and soul—to the loving Spirit of Aloha.

Bringing together the past and present, Hawaiian Massage meets the needs of people today who seek greater health, happiness and well-being. Deeply nurturing and enriching, it helps to give understanding and meaning to life.

The practice of Hawaiian Massage, was developed in an era when life was overflowing with the Spirit and Grace of Aloha, the Hawaiian word for unconditional, universal love. Hawaiians believed that everything in nature was sacred and connected by this, and that in responding to our life-affirming thoughts and actions, Aloha nurtured us with healing and abundant blessings.

Kahuna bodywork was performed in the healing temples by Kahuna priests, who were revered as keepers of the esoteric knowledge of life — in the modern world this is now called Huna Wisdom.

These sacred and formal rituals were given primarily as ‘rites of passage’ to key members of the community and young adults, to develop a strong sense of social and family responsibility with expanded awareness and spiritual empowerment.

Lomi Lomi was a more accessible massage given by family members for relaxation, recuperation and the treating of ailments. Lomi Lomi was also given to help promote the gathering and flow of mana for the Ali’I or tribal leaders who protected the people. A highly respected tradition of healing, each family group developed its own recognizable style.

Hawaiian Massage is also known as Huna Massage because of it’s roots in the Huna Wisdom and the esoteric knowledge of the ancient Hawaiians.

Hawaiian Massage simultaneously connects and revitalizes body, mind, heart and soul with the healing power of Aloha. Working at the core of our Being, it calms, inspires and empowers us to create the life we desire. Aloha nurtures us with healing and abundant blessings.
